About Julie Schabel

Julie Schabel is originally from Lakewood Ohio where she first started her career in photojournalism and printmaking with an internship at the Lakewood Observer. She went to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and received a BFA in printmaking and Photography. After graduating she moved to NYC to work as a photographer for fashion brands and concert venues. She then continued to work in the media space shooting video interviews for different online publications. She moved back to Cleveland to work at American Greetings and was able to start her own business printing apparel for clients by moving back to Ohio as well. Since then she has worked at The Cleveland Museum of Art as a teacher. During Covid she changed the name and direction of her business.
She created Wave Space Studio to be a community-based screen printing studio and art gallery based in Lakewood, Ohio. The goal of Wave Space is to bring the artists’ community in Cleveland and the surrounding areas together. Wave Space offers classes and workshops taught by local artists, and specializes in on-site printing and interactive art events that revolve around community.
